My first ever tampon experiance.

This is a funny story, although at the time it wasn't. I wanted to post it before, but I haven't had the time. :D



I'm 16 and recently tried out my first tampon. Well, no one in my life ever bothered to tell me that many women in my family don't wear tampons. My Mum does, but she didn't start wearing them until after she had children. My best friend was telling me about how ace they were and how she couldn't live without one. She talked me into trying one out, so I did. Her Mum had a regular size one, I'm glad I took that one rather than a super. Well it took me like an hour to get it in. I FINALLY got it in and it didn't feel right and I was freaked out and just wanted to take it out... Except one thing... It totally wouldn't come out. I was literly in my friends bathroom for two hours trying to get it out. I was freaking out and crying and crying. They were telling me that maybe if I sat in bath water it'd come out easier and all these crazy things.
It was so funny because I was like laying on their bathroom floor crying my eyes out talking to Grandma. She tells me how she never could use one of those things because she was built so small and they never fit right and how she had a hell of a time getting them out. I ended up having to go home and sleeping with it in. In the morning it finally came out after I gave it a hard tug. Pretty funny eh? At the time I was like majorly devistated.

Does anyone have any funny tampon storys? Or plain funny period stories?

Oh my God ... my sympathies, that must have been so scary!

Tampons scared me a little when I started using them, but I got my mom to explain them to me, so I had no trouble. But I remember reading in "Our Bodies, Ourselves" about a woman who tried to put a tampon in her anus, sted her vagina.

It pays to know your way around your vagina!!

Yeah, at the time I was like having a heart attack. I almost passed out, haha. :D My friend gave me the instructions, but I just didn't get it. I think Mum never taught me because I was always "Nooo tampons." Hehe. :D

I went through half a box of the suckers trying to get them in. Eventually, I got one in, slept in it, and couldn't get it out the next morning. I had to get my mum through to the bathroom to pull it out.

Nowadays, I wear them fine - sometimes after just taking one out, the new one's difficult to get in, 'cause it's a bit dry up there, but they're usually ok. I'm pretty sure I was having sex before I was using them - that may well have helped, I've yet to see dick smaller than tampax.

Tampax do a 'mini' size - if you're up to trying again (I know I couldn't go back to towels) I'd recommend them.

Really? I know, I was thinking. "How in the hell is a mans thing supposed to get in there if this thing won't?!??!??" My best friend told me that's why sex hurts the first few times. Haha. :D Mum bought me these TINY TINY tampons, so I think I'm going to use them the next time. :D

You may have heard this before, but part of why it's difficult to remove a tampon right away is because it's way too dry. If you don't push the tampon in far enough it can get really uncomfortable, and in that case you might need to remove it far away, but as a general rule it's easy to remove if the tampon is saturated enough. (Relaxing helps a lot, too!) :O)

I think it was like..the second time I'd had my period and I was on an air plane on my way to Puerto Rico. Bah! Anyways..It was like, the second time I'd used a tampon and I was totally freaking out. THe flight unfortunately was a long one and apparently it was...scarily heavy and the tampon didn't stop it. ;.; Wah! I was wearing plaid light blue pants, but thank GOD i brought my sweatshirt. So, I was stranded in the Puerto Rico airport with my DAD with a sweatshirt over newly red-assed pants. Oh! And then there was some delay with the bags and so I was stuck there another 30 minutes. I sat in the bathroom and cried, my dad never noticed. Anyways....it blew. T_T

Awwww! That must have sucked! The second time I ever got my period was while I was in the jungle of Panama! It was SUCH a nightmare. I didn't have any pads with me b/c I thought maybe it wouldn't come back or something silly. No one had anything but tampons and so I tore one apart until I got to where we were staying, thank GOD they had pads at they're little hut store. But it sucked and I had to sleep on a little bench that was a foot wide. Ugh.

Before my cousin and I got our periods, we figured we should learn how to use tampons. Well, we didn't have instructions, so we had to try to figure out how to do it on our own. Needless to say, we did not figure it out correctly and it was a wee bit painful. Somehow she got one in, but I didn't. When I finally found out how to really put one in, I was so excited. It looked a lot less painful. Now they're all I use.
