are these not the most badass cloth pads you have ever seen?

SO.. i want to try cloth pads (seeing how unhealthy tampons are, and how bad for the planet disposable ones are) but i think most importantly i feel like switching to cloth pads is sort of a statement to myself of acceptance of periods as a normal and pretty rad part of life..

i tried making them from a pattern i got, but i was not too successful. the pads i made were extremely bulky. so... what i'm looking to do it buy pads from different womyn making them, compare which i like best, and then try incorporate those styles into my own pads to sew. so anyone who knows of websites/womyn i can get in touch with who make these, let me know! so far i know of only 3 places selling these:
1.Many Moons Alternatives
2. Hag Rag
3. UrbanArmor.org (the ones pictured at the top)

(if anyone wants to know where to find those i would be happy to look up the addresses of the ones i listen)

so PLEASE post comments to this if you know places who make these, or if you use cloth pads because i am way interested in hearing how you like them and whatnot!

let it flow sisters :)

I would never use them though, I like keeping my blood well away from me lol, I hate leaks.

In the olden days and sometimes even know with aboriginie women, they wear petticoats and when they have their periods they just wiped their petticoats in between their legs to get rid of the blood every now and then.

Eco-Logique (http://www.eco-logique.com/), too, sells Lunapads (http://www.eco-logique.com/p-lunapads.htm) ... pricey, but, really good quality ... what I the ones I intend to make for myself will be modelled, after, as a matter of fact.

I try to use only tampax tampons, as they're 100% biodegradeable, and you can even flush the applicators.

i've also seen Organic Essentials tampons online. I've had bad experiences with Natracare applicators - on the two boxes I have, all the tampons are squished up through the applicators and they're a pain to put in. Natracare also makes organic disposable pads.

Fresh Fields sells Glad Rags cloth pads, if you live near one.

... i've seen several sites (This is just the first one i could pull up) pointing out that the dioxin scare is just that--a scare. Please be careful about passing on information... a lot of sites selling "natural" products claim that the "artificial" ones contain harmful ingredients just to better their own sales. While natural may be a little better, it's by no means a fact that "mainstream" tampons, etc, will make you sick. (if it was, we'd have many, many more sick people...)
