I have this bubble at the very entrance to my vagina that sometimes swells up to the size of a gold ball. When it isn't that swollen it isn't uncomfortable to have sex however intimacy can be a problem at times- don't want anyone being eye level with the bubble. ANyhow, I have moved around a lot so everytime I decide to finally do something about this it is with the advise of a different ob/gyn each time. The only consistent information I'm getting between all of them is that it is a clogged bartholmew (sp?) gland; however none of them tell me what caused it. The first told me not to even worry about it unless it causes discomfort and it would go away on its own, the second said that I would have to have it cut open and drained, the third said that she would just put me on an antibiotic (though I don't want to take medication). So yea, I could always research this extensively but I thought I'd give you girls something to work with. I don't have much knowledge on this issue, but it would be great if I could find a more natural remedy than antibiotics. What if I just poke it with a need and soak it in vinegar in hopes up tightening the wound (not the vaginal canal :) ) ?

Honestly, I have no idea what you *should* do, but here's one you *shouldn't* do: try to drain it yourself. That's okay for some blisters on the skin -- but with this you'd be risking serious infections, among other things...

That'd be a clogged Bartholin's gland.

To be honest, I get something similar (sebaceous glands, not the Bartholin's themselves) and my doctor said that if I wash well first, and can squeeze it myself, it won't hurt me to drain it. But go through periods of getting several a year, every few years.

If they hurt, your doctor should be treating you with drainage and/or antibiotics.

Once they're under control, I find mine stay away better if I use unscented aloe babywipes rather than toilet paper, when possible. I keep them in the bathroom at my house, but just use toilet paper when out in public.
