I don't think its unusual to cramp during ovulation-I've done it most of my adult life..
But that is just my observation..
Hope you get many more posts so you can have an idea if its something that happends to many women or not..

I get more of a 'pulling' pain off to one side than cramping like menstrual cramps.

i used to before i was on the pill. it was a different sort of feeling than period cramps though - more of a stabbing pain that was much less unpleasant and lasted...maybe a few hours?, and would suddenly end. i guessed it was ovulation because i was rampantly horny that time of the month.
