I take the ortho tri-cyclen 28 days tablet pills. I just go my period today. I am in so much pain, so moody, and so depressed. anybody have any good remadies to help sooth myself? The only pain killers that normally work for me, is the same medication I take for migranes. but I don't have any at the moment. any sugestions?

btw I don't think I've posted before. I'm Heather, 20, in college, and very much female :)

the more you use medicine to "relieve" your pain, the more it's going to hurt next time. i suggest herbal tea and/or a hot bath, not doing anything too stressful, and trying to love yourself and get in touch with your bleeding. i've found that when you're more comfortable with the blood, you have less pain.

for the moodiness and depression, i can't really suggest anything. i had to stop taking the pill because it messed up my moods so badly. just try to love yourself and that will make things easier.

nothing wrong with using medicine appropriately to relieve pain, IMHO; i assume that your noation about migraine meds being the only thing that work meant that you've unsuccessfully tried ibuprofen, etc? I'm on a prescription of bentyl, which is a smooth-muscle antispasmodic (usually used on the digestive tract but works on uterine muscles as well). If your cramping is serious you might talk to your doc about that.

otherwise, try light excercise (even just breathing excercises or stretching), warm compresses (or cold if it feels good for you--ice has sometimes felt good for me, counter-intuitively), or talking a friend, family member, or SO into a massage. whatever is relaxing and helps soothe you...

*shrug* it does for some people, but it doesn't surprise me that it doesn't for others. people's bodies are different :) it has helped my cramps some but not made them go away; some ppl report it makes their periods almost painless (i'm jealous!). anyhow, hope you feel better!
