I don't like the word vagina. It sounds like something that you'd accidently step on that would try to suck your shoe down into it when you tried to move. Pussy, though intended to evoke images of felines, makes me think of "pus", not something I want between my legs. Twat sounds like a new fly swatter as in "*twat* got him!". Snatch makes me think of evil little goblins, or Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky (the "frumious bandersnatch"), not a bad image in general, but not a good image between my legs. Yoni isn't bad, but an Isreali friend of mine is named Yonatan and goes by Yony, and while I like him, I do not like him between my legs (well, not that I've tried him there, but... you get the idea). Poonani sounds like a children's song, and cunny sounds like babytalk. Cunt is my favorite option out of the bunch because it sounds like some kind of viscious animal that would bite back. Still, there is something lacking.

What do you call your vagina?

girlyparts
which I don't think is the best-sounding thing, either, because it's totally nonspecific (I could be talking about my boobs!), and plus sounds like I'm scared to name them...
I want a word like "package" lol

I, personally find the word cunt repellant. Vagina stumbles a bit as a word, but I rather like Yoni, Nexus, and Seam.

I heard it called a honeypot in a movie (Go Fish I think). I kinda liked that but not sure I could actually use it in a sentence seriously. Cunt is a nice standby.

i personally find the words twat and cooch really funny. i use them in conversation as often as possible.

i like cunt (i've recently read the book) because it feels strong and powerful: a little dirty and a little daring, but self-sufficient and totally invincible.

I've actually spent time thinking about this. HAHA, so it's funny that you ask....

I was raised to be comfortable with the term "vagina". So, I use it frequently in professional and personal settings.

However, for some reason, I can't seem to use it in the familiar term around my husband. It just seems to "formal". :) LOL!! We have referred to "it" as the following;
the Nether-regions
the kitty (sounds better than "pussy")
the love-pocket (o.k., I know that's hokey, but oh well)

I can't stand the word "cunt"...for some reason, it just bothers me. "Snatch" is something a thug does to your purse. "Crotch" is ok when trying to define the general area in a non-professional setting, and is pretty non-offensive. "Poonanny" conjurs up memories of my brother and his annoying friends. Just my thoughts.....

Tom Robbins referred to it as "peachfish" in his book STILL LIFE WITH WOODPECKER. I think "peach" is much nicer, though.
What about conch-shell?

Mine is my yoni and has been for about two years, I was very happy when I read the karma sutra and found the word Yoni, I adopted it immediatley :)
before then I didn't even have a word for it, it was just "girly bits" which is kind of vague.
In England people often call them fannies but I really don't like that one, especially because of the fact that in America the word fanny usually means butt heheh
I remember seeing some American TV show as a kid and someone said "my fanny has got really fat latley" and I almost wet myself laughing! hehe

I also think the word Cunt is too harsh, I don't particularly like to say it, I'm a very softly spoken person, and when I say the word Cunt it just doesn't sound right. I laughed out loud when I read the line in "Cunt" about it sounding like an aggressive wheather system "thunder cunt" hehehehe

hehehe

i like to call mine my 'lovely-ness'. My friend scott calls it the 'bearded-clam', which brings a nasty image thing.....when i'm being weird i call it a 'pooty-tang'..yeah....names r fun. I remember back in the day I called it Nancy (after reading several Nancy Drew books for some reason) then I got an English teacher named Nancy, so i stopped referring to it as that. yep

LoL I have enjoyed reading all the comments! I call it just about whatever comes to mind. My little girl referrs to hers as her 'front bottom' and I just have a list I go through... people can usually figure it out from context, lol!!!!

My current boyfriend and I started calling it "wookie". For some reason, the many images it conjures up (a big hairy creature from Star Wars, or a fun toy) don't bother me.

Though I wouldn't mind calling it my "flower" either. I read it called that in several places and it always left a nice feeling in my belly.

I usually go with cunt -- it's by far the best one. And sometimes it's fun to shock more reserved people.

I think vagina sounds like a disease -- and I'm pissed at doctors for ruining a lovely metaphor -- in Latin, vagina means "sheath", and the Romans called the penis a "gladius", which is a kind of short sword. "penis" however, means tail. i also think that "yoni" is kind of pretentious, in a "look how tantric and respectful of the female body I am" way. "Twat" and "quim" are both kind of silly sounding.

But, anyway, digression aside, it seems like any small furry animal is appropriate -- cunt is related to older words for "rabbit", and then there's pussy, and beaver... I don't mind those too much, I think they're kind of cute :)

what I have a much harder time with is finding a name for the male member that's not too silly to say.
