i gots a question:
my gyno put me on the pill (the lowest dose possible) about a month ago. i'm just about done with the nausea and the depression. i got my period about 2 and a half weeks before i was supposed to, and my doc says thats normal for just starting the pill. but Rose, as i shall call her, decided to stay for 8 days. she left for a brief vacation of three days, and has made a surprise visit as of 1/21. she has brought her friends Hot Flashes, Cramps, Sore Back, Achey Legs'n'Feet, and Up Chuck. my doc hasnt returned my calls yet, so have you girls any suggestions? i've got dandelion tea with crampbark herbs in it, but it hasnt done me any good. and i dont like taking medicine unless its life or death (the decision of going on the pill was made because of Rose's unpredictable visits and her hard parties with her friends). any suggestions would be much appreciated!

The only thing I can think of is that you need a higher dose Pill.... Why are you reluctant to be on a stronger dose anyway?

i dont like taking medicine in general cos there are always sideaffects and whatnot. i'm a pretty strict vegetarian, and i really dont like animal products in my system, and the pill has cow and pig hormones, taken from the animals' urine. also, i have a family history of cancer on my mother's side, so the doc is reluctant to put me on a higher dose. the cramps and whacky period schedule arent attributed to the pill, i dont think, because it was the craziness of my period and the awful cramps that made my doc put me on the pill -- i couldnt predict my period before. in october i got my period four times, full blast each time. i'm just looking for remedies for the pain really. i used to take aleve, but its not working so much anymore. but i'm thinking the doc will put me on a higher dose.

It's possible a similar-dose but different type of pill might be better for you. I can't remember exactly what it was I took (brandname: Minulet), but it completely stopped agonising, interminable periods that made me faint a lot.

I know EXACTLY how you feel, in fact I spent most of yesterday reading and deciding what bc I would try next because now, thanks to Orthotrycyclen (sp?) I am fat sad, angry and ill.
I found some info about NuvaRing. I am still trying to discern its availability in the states. http://www.nuvaring.com/what.html
I need cycle control and contreception, but these pills are freaking killing me.

aaah i just read about nuvaring and it seems kinda freaky to me. i have a hard enough time with tampons so... but thank you so much for the link. my pill (lo-estrin) hasnt made me gain weight (yet...*knock on wood*) but it has made me really moody, or weepy at least. i'm definitely going to see the doc on this one tho cos its just getting worse. after 3 hours i had gone thru 3 pads. like i said, i dont really like tampons too much. so i had to leave school early today cos of cramps etc. but thanks (to all, not just VE) for the comments!
