Can you tell I'm blonde?
Jan. 22nd, 2002 01:47 pmLast night, I went to take my pill, and discovered that the pill from Sunday night was still there. I couldn't remember skipping it (in fact, I distinctly remembered taking it), but it was still there, so I obediently took both pills at the same time.
Then I looked closer and realized that the reason it was still there was because at some point I'd grabbed the pill from the opposite end of the pack, so I'd just taken two pills and thrown everything off for no reason.
So now I'm not sure what to do.
One solution is to finish off this pack, and steal a pill from another pack for Saturday, and then just keep that pack as a backup pack. This seems like an awfully big waste of pill, but considering I'm only paying $5 for 3 months, not a huge financial problem.
Another is to just go ahead and start the inactives now. I'm supposed to start them this coming Sunday, but considering that I skipped the last set of inactives (so I've been on the pill for 5+ weeks straight), that shouldn't be a problem. So I'd skip the rest of this week, and then start a new pack on Sunday. This would also hopefully fix the breakthrough bleeding problem, which is beginning to be really annoying.
The problem with that is that I'd only have a five day break, not seven. I'm thinking that I could start the new pack a day later (on Monday) giving me a six day break, and then also do a six day break next month. I just don't know if that's enough time to get everything cleared out.
Do any of you see a reason to not go ahead and start the inactives tonight, considering that I skipped the last set of inactives? Also, is there likely to be a problem with a six day break instead of seven? Note that the pills are the type with the same dosage every day, not the ones that change.

DON'T GRAB THE DYE JUST YET
Do you feel like you are pms'ing? (whatever is "normal" for you ie cramping bloating blah blah blah)
Do you want to have a period right now?
If you already feel as if you are about to start. Then I would go ahead and stop taking ANY pills this week the start a new pack on the day your Dr. stated (usually Sunday)
If however you don't really feel like having a period then by all means DON'T HAVE ONE! The oral contraceptive pill not only gave us control over conception it also gave us control over OUR PERIODS!
I do not recommend letting it be a regular habit without discussing the long term effects with your Dr first. (For a woman aged 20- 35 it causes only a slight reduction in calcium uptake and that can be aleviated by introduction of both a calcium supplement and a vitamin C supplement to aid in absorbtion.)

Date: 2002-01-22 03:02 pm (UTC)I'd love to just have my period every two or three months, but from last month's experience, it looks like that isn't going to work for me on this particular pill/dosage. I may try it again once my body is more established in the pattern, or I may talk to my doctor about switching.
