well my doc says that the sporatic, lengthy periods ARE side effects from the pill. and so are the horrific cramps. so she prescribed me MORE medicine to take. its like aleve only much MUCH stronger. i'm gunna be popping pills like an addict... ugh. vitamins, bc, painkillers, whats next?

so, my next question is, when does all this madness stop? like, how long after beginning taking the pill does the wacky hormone stuff and nausea end? i've heard it only takes 2 weeks, but i've past 2 weeks. i've heard a month, and i'm coming up on that this sunday. now i'm hearing 2 MONTHS. this isnt sounding good. help?

um.. the pill isn't supposed to do that to you. it could be a side effect, yes, but why stay on that formula of the pill if it does that to you? have you talked to your doc about switching to a different forumal of b/c? you don't say which you are on... maybe a higher/lower dosage of hormones, or just a different pill, would help.

the "standard" answer i've gotten for "how long does it take to adjust" is up to three months.. i only got mild "bad" side effects (morning nausea) and that's about how long that took to fade. (i chewed on ginger like a ginger-addicted beaver... yum. not.) hopefully if they're real bad and you stay on that pill, they go away soon!

it was crystallized ginger... i chewed it up and ate it. and frankly, taking isolated animal chemicals (hormones, or previously insulin i think from cows) is relatively normal... if you're so against it, i assume you have talked to your doctor about other treatments? having *severe* side effects, which it sounds like you have, is not expected and not "normal"... not sure what the doc meant by saying it was. i still say that it might be worth your while to ask him/her about switching pills... but just my opinion. anyhow, hope you feel better.
