hello. im new here and i was concerned about a few things. ok the first day of every period for me is hell! i get really bad cramps, to the point where i get very pale and i throw up is it normal to just have severe cramps for just one day? somoene told me there could be something wrong. ok and also i have a really hard time with tampons. im not sure if its because ive never used them before or what but when i try to put one in i get really light headed and feel like im going to faint. my mom get toxic shock syndrome does this mean i will? is it even worth it to try? thanks

Back when I had bad cramps, they were profound, and it was only for one day. My doctor didn't seem too concerned about something being wrong.

toxic shock syndrome (tss) has nothing to do with genetics or heredity. if you leave a tampon in too long, nasty bacteria that can grow on it start releasing too many nasty toxins, which are what can make you quite sick -- end result being TSS. moral of the TSS story? if you use tampons, be sure to change them AT LEAST every six hours.
as far as your lightheadedness when you try tampons... do you have any issues with blood? some people, when they think about tampons, are thinking too hard about the blood part, and for people with blood weirdness (or, in psych terms, a blood phobia), that can *definitely* cause faint and lightheaded feelings. (I personally have no issues with my own blood, oddly enough -- just specific situations with other people's blood, and it'll get me all kinds of faint...)
anyway. hope this helps a bit.
