Does anyone else suffer from mid-cycle ovulation pain?? (Mittelschmertz, is it?)

I am relatively sure that's what's up with me... I have pretty sharp pains in what I guess are my ovaries, and they seem to be the most common in the middle of my cycle. Like I have them right now and my period ended exactly 13-14 days ago.

Anyway, I'm mostly just venting, because the pain SUCKS...

Does it feel like something pulling? Thats what I would get.

Like there was a thin muscle or ligament being STRETCHED. Very annoying.

Yup, but it's not horrible. Just like, "Ow! I guess I'm ovulating!" It lasts about 45 minutes, and comes and goes during that time.

I've noticed it more in the last few months than I have in the past. Mine is crampy mostly and occasionally sharp. Lasts about half a day or so.

On another note, you said:
my period ended exactly 13-14 days ago

Do you count your cycle from the last day of your period? How can you tell when the real last day is? When there is no sign of any bleeding? Or after the really red stuff has passed? That last day or two for me is more discolored discharge, not really bleeding so I don't count it as menstrual.

Everywhere I've read says to count cycle days from the first day of your period. The day your flow starts is day one of your cycle. I find this easier because judging exactly when my flow is 100% over is tricky sometimes.

Also, not every woman ovulates on the 14th day. I personally experience the Mittelschmertz pains around day 15 or 16.

I'm going to rave about "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" again. Even if you don't track your cycle, the info about how the female cycle works is facinating. That is where I've gotten my info from.

It could be. Like I said, every woman ovulates on her own timetable. If you get a chance to look at that book, do it. Charting may help you see a pattern in your cycle.

(I'll get off my soapbox now *shy smile* I just REALLY love this book)
