You know how they stress that you should take the pill at the same time everyday? Does anyone know whether it makes a difference in your menstrual cycle if you don't? Lately my schedule is just really erratic so I end up taking it (Mircette) at wildly different times.

I notice if I don't take my pill every day at the same time. (Ortho tri-cyclen). My period will come earlier, I'll have more cramps, and it will be heavier. I don't know if your pill would do the same thing though.

i was on a low dose pill for about 15 years, and always erratic about when i took it. but after a few years my periods were always 28 days apart, just a bare ounce of blood.
by the way i think i am now barren because i stayed on the pill so long. a blessing, perhaps. not a conscious choice though, which sucks.

... if you do it widely enough to effectively skip a day, you can trigger bleeding etc...

also, you do know that that makes it far less effective as b/c?

the pill

yes, it does make a difference what time you take it, especially if you are on a lower dose of hormones. Itz important to maintain the same level of hormones in your body. Think of each pill as lasting for 24 hours only, if you miss that time everyday, than that hormone decreases in itz blood level. THe pill can be less effective as well.

Since I never do anything at the same time every day, I solve the problem by picking a time when I *know* I'll be *asleep*. I'm sure, if you think about it, you'll realize that no matter how erratic your schedule, there's one time when you're asleep everyday. Then I set an alarm for that time. When the alarm goes off, I wake up, take my pill (I keep the pack on the nightstand), and fall right back into bed. It doesn't disrupt my sleep at all, and I've been taking the pill pretty much perfectly ever since I've been doing that.

just my 2 cents. it's really important to take the pill regularly, as everyone else has said.
