-- burning during urination. This is also a good sign of a UTI (and untreated Urinary Tract Infections can lead to kidney infections). Don't confuse the burning with the itching/burning of a yeast infection. This burning is painful and will sometimes bring tears to your eyes.
-- a pain in the lower back, right around the waist. It could feel like a dull ache. It could be a sharp stabbing pain. It could feel like someone punching you repeatedly. Any pain concentrated to that small corner of the lower back could indicate kidney trouble.
-- fatigue. For people who get frequent kidney infections, the number one sign is the fatigue, which can hit suddenly. You'll be fine, no other symptoms to speak of, then, boom, you are so exhausted that it becomes a struggle to keep your eyes open. It takes every bit of energy you can muster to keep from slumping in your chair.
-- fever. Usually a low-grade fever goes along with a kidney infection in the early stages. If the infection goes untreated, the fever will rise.
heh. i'm trying to figure out why my back has been hurting for the past few weeks. it does hurt around that area, a LOT, and i've been starting to feel yucky the past couple of days. hopefully i'm not just being hypochodriac about this, but it certainly sounds like that's what i'm getting.
well if you are thinking you are getting a kidney infection you should go to the doctor ASAP because if they get really bad they can take months to heal. And if they get even worse they can kill you.
I could be sarcastic and say "it feels like hell", and that wouldn't be far from the truth.
From a clinical standpoint, the symptoms of nephritis (kidney inflamation/infection) are: pain in lower back or side(s) frequent urination with scant output a "burning" sensation with urinating nausea Vomiting fever pelvic pain (this is usually caused by the infection's wrath on the bladder) general feeling of malaise signs of bacteria in the urine (cloudy, casts, odor)
If you suspect you have a kidney infection, seek medical treatment ASAP. Pylonephritis can cause damage to the kidney if left untreated. :) Hope this helps.
