I used to get hit in the tators a lot also playing soccer. Hey it's the price you play for being on defense. It's worth it....well at least right now it is. I've suffered no traumatic boob experiences because of it. Any marks left are like battle scars......grrrrrrrrrrrr *flexes muscles*

I don't think so...I think breast cancer is more genetically, biochemically, and hormoneally linked..

This question actually comes up alot when I speak to young woman (especially athletic young women).

Here's the answer: No, getting pelted in the boobs with soccer balls, baseballs, or any other projectile does not increase your risk of breast cancer. HOWEVER, it does increase your risk of hematoma (bad bruises), benign scar tissue, and cysts which can SOMETIMES (rarely) progress to pre-cancerous cells or anomalous lesions. So...you're probably safe. But, I always recommend that women try and protect their breasts as a guy would protect the family jewels. Better safe than sorry. As long as your vigilant about doing your own breast exams every month (to monitor changes) and get your yearly from your physician ... you're doing the best you can do. :)

Heheh, we had little "breast cups" in fencing class. You should get some of those. ;) Or wear padded bras?

When I played soccer we just wrapped our chests up in ace bandages.

But then I was REALLY flat chested . . .

To minimize boob damage in soccer, you should throw your shoulders forward a bit when the ball hits. That way, the ball rolls down your front and you can trap it, rather than letting it hit you directly and bounce forward. Gives you more control of the ball as well as hurting less.
