Acidophilous Yeast Infection Cure
Feb. 20th, 2002 02:31 amSince I'm passing this remedy around on a regular basis, I'm going to make a 'one-time post' on this and mark it as a memory, so from here on out I'll just refer people to the url for info.
Yeast infections suck. More than that, 'yeast infection' is the common name for bacterial imbalances of many different sorts in the vagina. There's more than one kind of 'yeast' in there. Unfortunately, using Monistat or any of the other nasty drugstore cures... only deals with one kind of 'yeast', not all kinds. This means you may use one of these cures only to still feel itchy and awful when it's done, 3-7 days and $17 later. Don't let this happen to you!
Instead of Monistat, try acidophilous pills to cure yourself - cheaper, less toxic, less messy, and cures any kind of 'yeast' imbalance. I've had times where the drugstore cure did not work, but the acidophilous did - don't waste your money on Monistat, try this first.
Here's how: Go to the natural health store nearest you and buy acidophilous pills. Acidophilous is the culture found in yogurt, and you can buy it in gelcaps. It will be in a refridgerated compartment, because it needs to be cool to keep it from dying and becomming ineffective. When you get it home, wash your hands well and then insert one cap into your vagina as far as you can push it back. Do this twice a day (once before bed, once when you wake up) for one day after your symptoms are gone, usually about 4 days.
You will need to wear underwear at all times while doing this because you might get a little discharge from the acidophilous, but it's nothing near as bad as the drugstore cures, so you won't need to wear a pad.
If it's been, say, a week and you're still not feeling better, go to the doctor because it might be something other than a yeast infection and you should get it checked out.
For those moments when you have a really hellish yeast infection, the kind where you can hardly sit still and your crotch itches like there's no tomorrow, I have another remedy to make you temporarily feel better while waiting for the acidophilous to work. Buy some tea tree essential oil and some plain nonfat live culture yogurt. Mix one drop of oil with about a tablespoon of yogurt. Use your clean fingers to spread the mixture around your inner labia and in the entrance to your vagina. The tea tree oil will give you a strange cold sensation similar to mint, and even after that subsides, the itching/burning of the yeast infection will go away for a couple of hours. You'll need to reapply the stuff when you start to feel unpleasant again.
Good luck, and keep yourselves healthy!

Date: 2002-02-20 12:24 pm (UTC)On the other hand, the drugstore cures really really suck. I mean, I was driven to go find this information on how to cure them myself because I was really angry at having to fucking pay $12-18 to cure one of them, this nasty slimy 'cure' that doesn't even work half the time! Also, from the research I've done, the drugstore cures may well be a little toxic too (the drug in them builds up in the tissue, and can eventually enter the bloodstream - it won't kill you, but it's not good for you).
Anyways, I'm a big proponant of curing things yourself when you can. It's dangerous the way we've been taking so many drugs and building up so many immunities these past few decades, and I'd like to stay as free of that as I can be.

Date: 2003-10-03 06:56 pm (UTC)Hi again! I haven't managed to find any lotrimin af (as I said, tiny town with no pharmacy), but I'm going HOME next weekend, so I'll be able to stock up on things then.
I don't think I'll be able to find any tea tree or acidophilus around here; would just the plain yogure make things less itchy and horrible?
Thanks again.
