Feb. 24th, 2002 07:53 pmI went to see my doctor today about a lymph node infection. I am taking anti-biotics and she said they might cause a yeast infection. I've never had one of these before and I would like to avoid gettting one as much as possible. Could any of you please give me some advise on how to avoid one, and what are the best cures? thanx :)

Here are some things you can do to help:
Eat live culture yogurt. Antibiotics kill ALL bacteria in your body; good and bad. Hence the reason you get an overgrowth of yeast bacteria in the vaginal area. By eating yogurt, you're giving the antibiotic something else to work on.
Wear cotton underwear during your course of antibiotics. Yes, granny panties can help! :)
Try not to use tampons if your on your period and taking antibiotics. The slight irritation from insertion and withdrawl of the tampon can make things feel ten times worse.
If you really want to prevent it, you can use Monitstat as a preventative.
Good luck!
