hi, I'm new here ( and to lj )
question: I'm taking Microgestin, a birth control pill, I'm in the middle of my 3rd week, and I am bleeding. I don't remember this happening before. I try to take it at 9 every morning, but sometimes I don't take it til later. Is that why I am bleeding? Should I just keep taking the pill? I am in a long distance relationship, so I am not sexual active right now, but I'll see him in a couple weeks. Anyway, has anyone had an experience like this? Any suggestions?

I had this problem with a pill I used to take and when I called my doctor he said that it was normal to have a "little spotting" in between periods when you're starting out on a new pill. If I were you I would call my doctor just in case to make sure that everything's going to be fine. As long as you take it every day, you should be alright. They say you should take your pills about the same time every day but from what my doctor's told me, that's mostly so that I get in the habit of taking it and I don't go too long in between without taking it if I forget until later. I take Triphasil right now and it's a pretty low dose of the hormone, and the instructions don't start calling for drastic measures (meaning, the cycle gets disrupted) until you've skipped a pill altogether. If you've got the insert for your pills maybe you could check that out and see how it is for you.

I've experienced something similar. It was on a pill called "Ortho"something...I don't remember the exact name at the moment.
Anyway, I was put on a pill with a different hormone level, and it corrected the spotting problem immediately.
You may want to consult your doctor about the possibility of trying a pill with a different dosage of hormone.
After going through the 'spotting' situation with the pill for 3 MONTHS, it was a huge relief!
