Can antibiotics screw up your cycle?

My last period started on Jan 9th, lasting through the 13th...then I got an infection and was put on medication from the 18th to the 25th of January. I've always been pretty regular, give or take a day or two, but I've completely missed my period this month. Could the medication I was on be the reason I missed my period?

BTW, no I'm not pregnant, there's no possibility of it.

Maybe it wasn't the antibiotics themselves, but what the antibiotics were treating. If you were ill, and your body was under a lot of strain, it is possible that your cycle could go askew.

uhhh... did you tell your doctor that you were on the pill when they prescribed antibiotics?

If you read the insert very carefully, one of the warnings should be about how antibiotics can mess with the effectiveness of the pill. Any responsible pharmacist should have asked you as well, before giving you the prescription.

Just make sure that you use another form of birth control (like condoms) until you finish the course of antibiotics and have started a new pack of pills.

Oh...I'm not on the pill. I'm not on any kind of birth control - don't exactly need it. But thanks, though. =o)
