Mar. 11th, 2002 01:03 pmI apologize if this is way far off topic because it really doesn't have anything to do with menses or women's health.
I recently stopped shaving out of 100% laziness and a bit of curiosity. I started wondering how many women out there shave? If you've chosen not to shave, why?

Date: 2002-03-11 04:44 pm (UTC)I also shave the two nasty little patches of hair I get on my chin. I think all women get a couple of thick black hairs on their chin, but I'm too much of a wimp for plucking or waxing, so shaving it is. I do that every couple of days.
Otherwise, I don't shave at all. My hair grows really quickly, so if I want my legs to be smooth, I'd have to shave every day. I'm pretty bad at shaving (still have scars from 9 years ago), so it's generally not the best idea. Since I really hate stubble, I'd rather just not shave and have long soft hairs than shave every few days and feel like a brillo pad. As far as the pubic region, I've shaved it a couple of times. It's nice when it's smooth, but the thing is, it's a major major turn on for someone to play with some of the fine hairs on the labia for me, so to shave them off, I lose out. Also, I would never ever shave the whole thing because it reminds me of being five years old when my vagina was weird and damp and icky, and seeing grown women who are totally shaved just makes me think of children, and ...yuck.

Date: 2002-03-11 08:50 pm (UTC)woo hoo ! HAIRRRRRRR
I stopped shaving my pits for life about 3 years ago, because I hated the prickly, flat top underarms....
I have stopped shaving my legs for about 2 months now and I am getting used to it.
I do not shave because I feel more like a woman this way and I feel sexier, more primal and it feels good.
I like the extra time I have in the shower to think or other things....
I am still getting used to leg hair....
I scrub my pits extra good and I have no smell issues, but I like my personal musk anyway.

Date: 2002-03-12 07:42 am (UTC)I shave my legs as often as I can without the skin getting irritated. got pretty sensitive skin, though, so it really only ends up being once every couple of weeks.
do not shave the pubic area. I trim it neatly, but no shaving for me - I find it creepy and prepubescent. plus, I like the feeling of the hair and when it gets touched/brushed up against. and frankly, I think it's more flattering and sexy to have that patch of hair.

Date: 2002-03-13 07:45 am (UTC)Pubic area, I shave; frankly, I have no opinion at all about it, and my SO prefers it shaved; he'd never tell me what to do, but I figure: if I have no opinion, and he has one, why not be nice to him? *grin* Brownie points, y'know....
