um, ive had a problem for a little over a year now, which i recently mentioned to my mother.

basically, about once every three months or so, for about three or four hours- over a day, i cannot even stand up straight because my entire lower abdomen is hurting, ovaries especially, and lower back. its not a nauseous or constipated or crampish feeling, or anythign of the sort- everything inside of me is being cut up into little pieces.

i finally brought it up to my mother about two months ago, during one particularly bad episode in which one of my friends told me i had certain symptoms of a kidney infection- but my mother said that i should just take ibuprofen and rest and keep a heatingpad on it...

none of that helped, and it happened again for a few hours yesterday.

does anyone else have this happen to them, and is it maybe related to my reproductive organs?

it doesnt happen at a specific time in my cycle, either. seems completely random.

have you ever had unprotected sex? not to be nosey ;), but if you had, it sounds like it could be pelvic inflammatory disease.

You can get PID from protected sex. You can also get a lot of other things from protected sex. Condoms do not protect you from everything. They cut down the risk, but the risk is still there. That's why every woman who's sexually active, even if using condoms, needs to have PAP smears.

(*personal note* mom's in the medical field. plus she's had tons of this stuff herself. i really honestly don't think she'd 'blow off' anything that was serious. *end personal note*)

... frankly, it sounds like it could also be a stuck gas pocket. they can do that to you in an excruciating way; trust me, i know. next time keep an eye out for any "unusual" foods you've eaten before that or anything, and try taking a little of a carbonated beverage (a *little*) and a gas pill and see, just for reference, if it helps?

... well, have you had any other kidney symptoms at all? There can be a lot of stuff in that area of the body that's not kidney. If you had kidney problems, you'd also be showing general urinary symptoms (difficulty urinating, painful urination, funny smelling or looking urine, etc) most probably, and/or also fever and other general infection symptoms if it was a kidney infection (the urinary symptoms still even if it wasn't an infection would be the tip-off for anything kidney-related; it's all the excretory system).

A gas pocket doesn't always "feel" like gas... it can be sharp stabbing pains, it can make you nauseous, etc. I brought it up cause it's so blasted amorphous in stuff like that :) and if you're getting no other symptoms that's quite possibly one cause to look into. If you do have any other symptoms then it's a little different.

yes it was a long post. i do that :)

darker can be caused just from not drinking enough water in the past few hours (as is often the case first thing in the morning, natch)... but yeah, if by "darker" you mean "darker after i've drunk a liter of water" or "brown" or "orange" or "green" or "cloudy" or "muttering in klingon," it's a bad thing (TM)...

you might ask mom briefly if you could go in to get checked for a urinary infection just to set your mind at ease; if you get checked and there is one, they can treat it; if you get checked and there isn't one, then you can relax about that *g*

Its really weird but these problems right, well, when you have them, you go to professionally trained people called doctors.

Seriously. If theres a problem you need to know, if theres not, the doctor is paid to check it out so he wont care. Lets say it IS serious and you've spent so much time waiting for us to tell you what it is that its gotten worse. You need to sort this out immediately.
Also, although often asking if anyone else has experienced it may seem like a good idea, its not. For example, if i say 'i cant move, i have a fever and im just really ill' people would say i have flu, but the plague has the same effect.
Ok, so he chances of having the plague are slim, but its just the first example i had.
Just because one person has the same reaction to trapped gas as you do to something deadly doesnt mean that youll be ok.
Go to a doctor.
Find out for sure.

... yes, goign to the doctor is good. (but it's unlikely to be anything "deadly"--please don't try to unduly scare people?) I never said not to go to the doctor, just that it might be a good idea to try something else first as the condition i mentioned (gas) is rather more likely than a lot of other stuff that *could* go wrong. So, just for reference, it might be a good idea to try that first. But yes, for the record, doctor visits are good things for ongoing problems that aren't apparently going away with the standard treatments.

just thought I'd clear up what I meant.

Time to see a physician?
