for the past couple days i've noticed a dull ache in my uterus that i've never felt before. it doesn't seem like cramps though i am menstruating. for some reason PID came to mind. i looked it up in our bodies ourselves. another symptom besides uterus pain is burning during unrination, which i have been experiencing. this i was blaming on a bladder infection coming on, which i don't usually get. but can you get them from not drinking enough water? because i haven't been. so i've been trying to drink more water and also cranberry juice. i'm also using the menstrual sea sponge for the first time. is it possible that some PID causing organism crawled into my cervix from the sea sponge?

if you got your sea sponge from a clean source, like a regular manufacturer like Sea Pearls and you aren't just using a craft sponge or a sponge from a questionable source, it shouldn't be from that. The sponges (at least from Sea Pearls) are cleaned before they are packaged AFAIK. if it makes you feel more comfortable though, you might wear pads for a day or two to let everything flow out. It may be your body is sensing a pressure difference from having a sponge vs. a pad or cotton tampon. Definitely call your doc if it lingers though!

oh, on the cranberry juice, something I have noticed is if you can get the unsweeted stuff, it tastes bad, but without the sugar it seems to help better.

feel better!

I never boil but I do soak in hydrogen peroxide when it gets too icky to just rinse. Usually don't get around to it before i use it though (but I also almost never remember to wash my new underwear before I wear them either ;) Did you trim yours? maybe a stray peice of sponge wandered of that wasn't trimmed completely. if it did, I am sure your body should break it down or flush it easily ...
