my keeper sucks
Mar. 27th, 2002 11:52 amok, it's been about 4 months now and I am bloody well ready to give up on the damned thing. pun intended. it leaks like a fucking sieve. doesn't matter if I push it far in or pull it down, twist it to form a "seal" or leave it alone, sit or stand, sleep or wake... more blood ends up on the minipad I wear to catch drips than in the little damned cup. and on top of that I trimmed down the tab and now the edges of it are pokey and they irritate my labia.
I know a lot of people here love the keeper, but... maybe my cunt was designed on pluto. I always knew I wasn't really a girl. Now I have proof.

Date: 2002-03-27 09:38 am (UTC)Oh, one of those. If you'd said 'It's a brand of menstrual cup,' I would have known what you were talking about. :-> I've never, ever ever had any luck with those things. Maybe I'm not really a girl either? Or maybe I have freakish mutant heavy flow or something.

Date: 2002-03-28 06:06 am (UTC)The following is a more detailed description of inserting the Keeper. Please
also review the diagrams in the usage brochure.
- Hold the Keeper with both hands - the stem should be at the bottom, which you have trimmed to 1/2 inch but no shorter than 1/4 inch.
- Press the sides of the Keeper together
- Fold the "flattened" Keeper once more vertically
- Hold the Keeper tightly in this folded position between your thumb and the adjacent three fingers (using your right hand if you are right handed)
- The single curved edge should be away from your palm (otherwise, The Keeper may pop open before you get it inserted)
- With the fingers of your other hand, gently separate the labia and then push the curved edge of the folded Keeper quickly so that it does not pop open before insertion. Some women find that there is some resistance pushing it in as the vaginal muscle can sometimes be very tight, but once you insert it past the vaginal opening you should be able to push it up the rest of the way. moisten the Keeper with water to ease insertion)
- Continue to insert the Keeper until it is fully inserted in your vagina. The stem should not be protruding
- Relax your fingers and let it pop open
- Tug the stem down and angle it so that the Keeper follows the natural slant of your vagina (which is towards your back - between the tail bone and waist -NOT vertical) The stem should not protrude.
- Hold the base of the cup (not the stem) and give it one full rotation to ensure that it has popped open. If it still will not open, just insert your finger between the Keeper and vaginal wall which will help to open the Keeper.
- The Keeper should be comfortable - if you sit and you feel a pinch, you may have it inserted too "vertically" or the stem may still be too long. So just trim it again slightly until it is comfortable, no shorter than 1/4 inch.
-If you are still having problems with discomfort or leaking , you may have the wrong size so just let us know.
-In some women, The Keeper may move up the vagina closer to the cervix, making it difficult to
reach the pull tab. Just push down with your stomach muscles until the pull tab is back at the
entrance to your vagina. If you have the B size and it continually moves around, rides up or
leaks you will need the A size. If you have some leakage with the A size, you should do at least
100 Kegel exercises daily to tighten your vaginal muscle.
-At first it may feel awkward but with a little more practice it should only take a few seconds
to insert and remove.
- To remove - wash your hands. Pull gently on the stem until you can reach the base of the cap.
Pinch the base to release the air. Pull down gently and angle it sideways to remove half the cap and then angle it again to remove the other half. Just empty the contents in the toilet, wash it well with hot soapy water or wipe it out and then reinsert.
