Wow...they have a community for everything nowadays, don't they! Fun! So yes, I too suffer from that great monthly occurance. Suffering right now at the moment...but anyway, I just wanted to say howdy and all that.

Also wanted to ask if anyone had any advice on how to maybe lessen cramps before they start, or once they do start, get rid of them quickly. I get rather violent cramps...and i'm bound to the bathroom until the adivl or whatnot kicks in. Suggestions, ladies? Please

I really don't have a quick fix, I usually have to start doping up before I start in order to beat the cramps. For me a tylenol and two advil will do it, but if I start taking them after the cramps have started they don't do as well.

I start taking ibuprofin a day or so before I think they're going to start. That way they're not so severe.

When I started to take Birth Control the pain decreased a lot.

yeah, that happened to me too...but, alas, I had to stop taking it...oh well!

Ibuprofen or naproxen sodium seem to bej the normal OTC ways of handling it; also, heating pads or hot water bottle on the abdomen may help, as may gentle excercise (even breathing excercises--it feels awful at the start, but for me at least, afterwards I feel much better. Endorphins are wonderful things.)

I'm also on a prescription for Bentyl, which is a smooth-muscle antispasmodic usually prescribed for the digestive tract; my doc prescribed it for me to try because I had awful cramps. It seems to have worked for me; (I'm also on b/c and take ibuprofen for them, but I take the bentyl on the worst days and they are more bearable) you might ask your doctor about it.
