double post (also appearing in [livejournal.com profile] vaginapagina

i recieved my keeper in the mail on friday. i was oh so excited. i rushed back to my room, opened it up, admired the cute red bag with stars on it. i read through the directions and the pamphlet and showed my roomate and explained it to her and that was that. so today, i decided i would test my insertion skills before my shower. i took it into the bathroom (public-like restroom in my dorm) settled into a stall. and followed the directions. i pinched, folded, and spread em. i started to put it up inside my vagina, and as soon as my fingers slid down, it unfolded and suctioned the side my vagina. i nearly screamed. i was not prepared for that. being the determined woman i am. i removed it, and tried again. i remembered that the directions said that the rim could be wet a little bit, so i tried that. the same thing happened again.

is this going to happen every time. could i be doing something wrong?! please help me keeper friendly ladies.

Keeper Procedure (mine, anyway)

'Kay, here goes.

I start out by wetting the Keeper in the sink and spreading my legs as widely as possible (which often means I've taken off my pants and underwear, and am in my bathroom at home, but Your Mileage May Vary ... I just feel more comfortable spending extra time in the bathroom if it's in the privacy of my own home). I fold the Keeper in half, such that the cup becomes a triangle. Then I have to hold the triangle folded, about halfway down the cup, as I insert it. This is where I get blood on my fingers -- if I don't keep it folded, I run into the suction problem I think you're describing or it simply won't fit in there. I usually get the Keeper in further than it's supposed to be, then allow it to unfold inside me, and then I tug it back down toward the opening of my vagina in order to have it hold everything in.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask more questions. I may have misunderstood your problem. The biggest problem I usually have is getting bloody fingers. I always get blood on my fingers when I use my Keeper. However, I have found that it's worth getting bloody to get everything situated correctly, as the Keeper does a much better job for me than any other menstrual product (now that I'm somewhat used to it), and it has the added benefit of being earth-friendly, etc. :)

The directions say to wet it a little bit. Don't wet it a little bit. Wet it a LOT, like dripping a lot. It might be a little harder for you in a stall. I have to squat all the way down. It helps if you fold it and pinch it really tightly. As you insert it, you're going to have to insert your fingers along with it. Keeping it folded was the hardest part for me. You'll get the hang of it eventually :) Also, don't insert it pointing straight up. Try and angle it as you insert it towards the base of your spine. That will help prevent leaks.

I had that happen to me.

What you need to do, essentially, is get it as far inside of you as possible before letting it unfold, and if necessary, tug it back down a bit later. What makes this task a *lot* easier is lubrication. Personally, what I do is get a little dab of KY and spread it around the rim of the Keeper. Then I fold it in half once and insert it. It helps to do this while sitting on the toilet, as it both puts your cunt at a good angle for insertion, and the toilet bowl gives your hand a lot of free room to move your hand around.

I just flatten it, fold it and insert, holding it with two fingers. I stand with one foot on the toilet seat.

Thankfully, I've never had any difficulties with it. There is a yahoogroup for the keeper if you're interested. I've found a lot of good tips on there:
