Ok people in here have said that it's ok to only have you period like 3 or 4 times a year and in fact that might be healthier. However, what about things like depo provera and norplant that can stop your period all together? Is that healthy? I just ask cause i'm considering norplant and it doesn't seem healthy for a period to stop for so long. thanks in advance for your help :)

This community has really opened my eyes about certain birth control methods. I don't think I've heard a single good thing mentioned here about depo provera. In fact, a lot of the stuff I've heard is pretty scary -- a woman posted her about her daughter who was on depo for a year and even though she's been off it for many years she has not started her period again and has put on a great deal of weight. As for norplant, a friend of mine had it. It turned her into a ball of tears and she said replacing the norplant was no fun. The "rods" can shift under the skin and the person changing them had to dig for them which was none too pleasent.

I've been on the pill for years. You get into the rhythm of taking one every day pretty quick. I take one with my morning multi-vitamin which helps me remember.
