and, well, since you asked...

it's a suction bag containing pericardial and thoracic fluids. there's some blood and tissue in there, too.

i use it at a tongue-in-cheek reference to "leaking" since that was fluid leaking from my chest (via two drain tubes placed there and aided by the suction bag) in february. ;)

Not that this in anyway compares to what you have been through, but my puppy has been through a similar experience. She has a form of Lupus and it attacks her blood vessels and makes them leak. Poor puppy. She had to have part of her lung removed because the fluid caused one of her lung lobes to torse. She is such a trooper.

Just thought that I would share. I hope that you are ok.

hey, if this had happened to my *pet*, i'd have been in a much worse mess.

not that i have a pet. before falling in love with explodingcat, i neglected to ask if he was a dog or cat person. two people who *need* pets, but are violently allergic to different animals should probably stay away from each other. ;)

someday we'll have a pig.

and i'll probably be allergic to it. if zie gets sick, though, i'll be a weepy little puddle.
