Sigh...I'm in the hut since yesterday afternoon. However, it started heavily pretty immediately and I could not get to a bathroom right away. My nice little pair of panties got some blood on them. Anyone know a good method that will really take the stain out? I don't wanna toss them as I really like them. Thanks guys.

Hi!

Well, i learned this little trick when doing Aikido - sometimes we would get little blood stains on the dojo's mat. The secret ingredient is.....hydrogen peroxide!

Rinse your panties (or any other article of clothing) in cold water - squeeze out as much of the blood as possible. Then pour on some hydrogen peroxide - it will bubble up. Rinse. You can also (after doing this once or twice) put it in a sink or a bowl with a mixture oh hydrogen peroxide and water and let it sit to help work out larger stains. It doesn't always work 100%, but it does a pretty good job. It does best if you do it right away, before the blood has dried - although it does work on dried blood, too.... just make sure you soak the fabric first and get as much out with cold water.

Good Luck

I've had hydrogen peroxide remove color from *dark* green undies after the blood had been sitting in them for awhile, but not from other things. And it only faded it there slightly (oddly, only exactly where the blood had been), it didn't bleach it completely.

So it could remove some color, but it won't always.

Yuppers - pretty much good for them all. If it is a dark fabric that hasn't been set yet, you may lose a bit of colour. But i have used this same thing on cotton white, cotton colours, cotton prints, and silk. Not to mention other mixed stuff from non-undergarments.

I find cold water and regular soap works pretty well if the blood is fresh. If it's been there 8 hours or so, cold water is still best but I haven't found anything that will take it out completely. If the hydrogen peroxide works, let us know... :)

as gross as this sounds saliva supposedly works, I took a sewing class when I was younger and they always told you if you pricked your finger and got blood on whatever you were sewing just to put a little spit on it and theres something in your saliva that disolves your own blood...so I imagine for a small amount of blood that would work, not sure it would work if there was alot though

Dr Bronner's Peppermint Castille Soap...the liquid kind will take just about any stain out, but not the color. I suspect some of the other Dr. Bronner's soaps will work just as well.

The other thing (if you can tolerate it) that takes stains out like nothing else, is Amway's LOC (Liquid Organic Cleaner)-I have no idea what it is, but Amway drives me crazy...even though I love the stuff. Mom used to use it for bubble baths when I was a kid too...
