Okay I just posted this in Sex tips and got redirected to you guys..HELP:
This weekend I have noticed that my left ovary has been pretty irrated. Like when I pee I get this horrible cramping kind of feeling on or around my left ovary. I went to the bathroom just before (pee) and it hurt more that it has when I first started feeling it. I'm almost postive I'm not pregnant, I haven't had sex for about 2 weeks and last time I did we used a condom (like always) and he pulled out before he came. And my period has been sort of regular. last months period came a few days late, and this months period only lasted for about 5 days. Now I'm a usual 8 day period person so does this whole hurting ovary have anything to do with the period? And its not like I have my period for only a few years, I have it for a good 6 years so far. I'm really nervous about this because I don't want to have anything seriously wrong with me, and I definatly don't want my mom to know about me having sex. Any help would be really appreciated. And I'm really sorry if this isn't sex related. I just need some advice and what not. Thanks again

I'm not an expert, but I know that the left side makes doctors' ears perk up because of a possible ectopic pregnancy. They tested me for one once when I had similar pain (nothing wrong with me though; just mid-cycle pain). You can definitely get pregnant even if he pulls out, and you can get your period anyway. I would DEFINITELY see a doctor.

If this is the middle of your cycle it COULD just be mid-cycle pain which is nothing to worry about, but please, see your doctor.

This could also be an ovarian cyst. Many women have them, and they can burst, causing lots of pain but no serious danger. Go to a doctor. They'll want to do an ultrasound test (and if they don't, make them) to check for these. They're not life threatening or really that big of a deal overall, but they are something to be aware of and pay attention to. They have no relation to your having sex or not, so if you do have them, your mother won't 'find out' about your sexual activity.

I had the same kinds of troubles just last week, to the point where I couldn't sleep at all.

It ended up being a mid-cycle ovarian cyst that burst (as they should, to release the egg), which is normal.

YOU DO NEED TO GET IT CHECKED OUT, just in case.

It could be a tubal pregnancy or some kind of infection, especially if it's worse when you go to the bathroom. Get it checked out before it gets worse, please. If you don't want to go to the doc's for fear of your mom finding out, there's no need to worry. Tell her about the pain, leave out the sex part. Tell her it's bad, and you need to see a gyno, just in case. Make something else up, if you have to. Tell her you think you have a yeast infection you need checked out. (You should NEVER self treat ayeast infection, because it could be something else. Besides, why buy a cream over the counter when you could be safer in getting looked at and also just get two little pills and no mess?)

Once you see a doc, you DO have to tell him you're sexually active, so that she/he can make sure it ISN'T a pregnancy in the wrong place. Where do you live? I know California has confidential health care after the age of 14.

Also, I'd highly recommend getting on birth control if you don't want your mom to know you're having sex. People take birth control for many reasons-- Acne, period regulation, killer cramps, and even to get rid of their period all together. Make up a reason and get on it.

If the pain gets horrible and you don't have a same day or next day appointment, go to the ER. Only if you're, like, stooped over from the agony though.

Good luck, and please, please, please make an appointment!!

Email me if you need more advide-- I was in the same "didn't want mom to know" situation.
