Well. I have been on the pill for almost 2 years. I was on Alesse, and lately my period has been all screwy, and I've been having breakthrough bleeding the week before I should be getting my period.
My doc says it's because my progesteron (sp??) levels must be off a little, so he is switching my pill to Marvelon.

Has anyone else had to switch? did you notice any annoying side effects? and is anyone here on Marvelon? and how do you like it?
thanks in advance, I know it's a lot of questions...

I switched pills not too long ago, and I was dreading it. I'd had some pretty awful side effects from other medication and the fact that we'd hit a pill that worked on the very first try was incredible. (I was lucky; Lo-Ovral and I got along really well...I had all benefits, except maybe my breasts going up a cup size, which some people would consider a benefit.)

My new health insurance didn't have Lo-Ovral on it's fomulary, so the NP switched me to Levlen. It's got slightly less progestrone in it, but the same amount of estrogen. The switch went very smoothly; no really awful side effects...my period last month was actually lighter than it had been. I'm not sure if that's the fact that I'm sick or if that's the new pill or what, but we'll see in about two weeks when I get another period.

I switched a few months ago from Ortho Tri-Cyclen to Nordette, and have had no problems. It cleared up a lot of my worst side effects (lack of sex drive, bitchiness a couple days before my period). They all work pretty much the same way, so I think it's just a matter of fine-tuning to find which one works best with your body chemistry.
