I wanted to know what your thoughts were on Instead...

because they seemed all great and fine until I realized how hard they might be to get out...

(And I know The Keeper is probably better, but I'm just wondering about Instead.)

to tell the truth, instead is hard to get out, the first few times. I know I had the one time of totally freaking out thinking i would have to go the doctor to get it out... but once you visualize how your body is built and calm down it will get easier.you just have to put pressure on the rim of it against your pelvic bone and pull down (ifyou have a hard time getting it out), otherwise you do just as it says and pull it straight out horizontally and all is well. You know what helped me a lot is the website. I read through the whole thing. it made it easier to visualize than that stupid pamplet that comes with them.

I've never had a problem getting Instead out. I can usually push it out far enough with my vaginal muscles that it's easy to grab, or you can just hook your finger under the rim closest to the entrance of your vagina and give a little pull. I wouldn't want to try getting it out if I wasn't over a toilet though...

I thought Instead was pretty easy to use. It didn't work quite right for me (it would occasionally gush what it had collected if I sat a certain way, which led to general distrust and non-use), but I never had any trouble with insertion/removal. Actually, that's not entirely true. It was easy to get out, but sometimes very difficult not to spill/splatter. That was one of my least favorite parts of the process.

I think the Keeper is a little trickier to learn, but more trustworthy in general.

I'm sure Instead works great for some people, but from what I've heard, it was designed based on an anatomical feature that not all women have. This was years ago, so I don't remember the exact details, but from what I remember, it has to do with the shape of the cervix.

Sitting in class might not be a problem if you sit normally. I had trouble when I would sit with my knees pulled up to my chest. Fortunately, I was always wearing a pad when my Instead failed...
