Well, the 3 times I tried, I coudln't get it all in, until it felt uneasy and painful, so I figured, "Some other time." But it feel weird. And I don't want to mess up anything downthere. :P (my own gym teacher gave us those "female" packs, and if she gave us tampons, she must have thought it's okay. But she didn't say anything about the hymen problem)
You might try angling back a little more, or moving it around some and slowly trying to find a better spot ... even with using tampons for years, I'm ~still~ prone to every now and then angling wrong and jabbing myself a bit.
There are *some* women with hymens that won't allow a tampon to pass, but that's rare. If you take time and practice, be willing to waste some tampons, you'll probably be fine. I've been using them since about my third period -- and that adds up to a LOT of tampons. But even if you do damage your hymen with tampons, you're not "messing yourself up down there." Hymens are made to be stretched out of their original shape, and that rarely, but sometimes, happens with hymen use.
If you're consistently having a hard time, and *really* want to use tampons, you can consider asking for a doctor's visit. And understanding doctor can help you figure it out, and check to see that your hymen will allow a tampon to pass.
if you put one leg up on the toilet seat and completly relax everything down there, you should be fine. aslong as you know where to put it, ofcourse! have you read the little booklet? it helped me lots. :D *squishes*
I couldn't actually put a tampon in myself the first time I tried. For some people, it just takes practice. For me? I gave up and resorted to pads. Later when I finally wanted to have intercourse, my boyfriend and I had problems and it really wasn't working. I went to the doctor and she told me I had a thick hymen; they effectively had to fix it for me. Sex was much easier after that, and putting tampons, Insteads, etc. as well.
