Just joined and wanted to say hi and my name is Alisha. Im 17 years old and im a virgin and once before i tried tampons i finally was able to get one in and i really liked it found it to be very comfortable but that was really a long time ago. So today i go and buy some tampons and for the life of me could not get it in. The one time i was able to insert it that took forever. I dont know whats wrong does it have something to do with me being a virgin am i doing something wrong? Is there a kind out on the market that is easier for first timers? I also seem to have different symptoms everytime i get my period sometimes im moody sometimes the cramps are more intense. But this time right before my period my breasts got really tender to the point where they kind of hurt anyone else had this happen? And then these cramps i dont know what to say about them sometimes they dont hurt other times they do. I even take prescription pain pills and i can still feel some of the pain stuff like midol doesnt work for anything on me im thinking that birth control could help i tried it once before they settled down a little but is there any one kind of birth control that is really good for cramps.

Well, sometimes it's the brand - the different applicators are easier or more difficult to use, I'm told. I've only ever used Tampax cardboard applicators, myself... Sometimes it might just be that you're tense, which makes things more difficult. The recommendation I've seen has been to try putting one foot up on the toilet or something and working at it that way. Also, using the slender-regulars makes 'em smaller; they absorb less, but they're easier to get in and otherwise deal with.

all the birth controls i've heard of/looked into had a nice side effect of lessened cramps... i'm about to go on yasmin, and it's supposed to fix those... i'm pretty sure ortho-tri does as well.. i know quite a few girls who are on birth control to help control their cramps... i'm one who doubles over in pain in bed and nothing can fix me for about 4 days... so that's one reason i'm going... well, coupled with the fact that i haven't had a period since... may... and that's "normal" for my body? heheh oh well ;-)
