Hi, I just joined.. *waves*

My periods are annoyingly irregular. I skip them for months at a time...in fact, at one point I went 13 months without having a single period. Around that time I got myself checked out--blood tests, ultrasounds, the whole bit. I went to 3 different doctors, none of whom believed that anything was wrong with me physically. I was put on the pill to regulate the periods, but had to be taken off when they caused my blood pressure to skyrocket.

Currently, I haven't had a period since June. When I DO have periods, they tend to be light and last for only a day or two.

This could be a problem when it comes to pregnancy, because I wouldn't know what point my cycle was at at any given time. :(

Did they try any other pills? Some pills effect people differently. Just because one pill made your blood pressure go up, it doesn't mean they all will.

If your periods are that irregular and the pill helped, I'd try pills until you found one that's right for you. I tried 5 different ones until I found the one that was right for me.

Also, I skip the placebo pills of my packs so I don't get my periods. The doctors say its totally medically unnessary to have a period if you don't want to bear children right away.

Just because you had an irregular period doesn't mean anything is wrong. Some periods are just irregular. Mine were, until I went on the pill (never that long), but a friend of mind had the 13 month thing you did and there's nothing wrong with her, either.

Just some stuff to keep in mind.

You might want to try charting your cycle. http://www.FertilityFriend.com/home/13fc4/ (this is my homepage there)offers free charting.... and a basic explanation of how to do it, as well as you get someone to ask questions.

Basically, you chart your basal (resting) body temperature every day - your BBT rises when you ovulate, letting you know when you have ovulated. You also chart your cervical mucus, menstruation activity, cervical position, cervical texture, and other information (both with check-boxes and places for your notes).

This will let you know when/if you ovulate, if you are bleeding without ever ovulating, etc. They also offer support circles on a variety of topics. Although this site is specifically for people trying to conceive (TTC), i think it is a great thing for anyone trying to know their body's cycles better.

good luck!

I know I must sound like a broken record to the regulars here :) but have you checked into polycystic ovary syndrome? You might want to read PCOSupport (http://pcosupport.org) or [Unknown site tag]. It's one of those things (most) doctors like to pretend doesn't exist, so it wouldn't surprise me if you had it and three doctors missed it. Look over the symptoms and see if you have any others.

*hugs*
