My name is Stacey, and I'm new around 'the hut' so to speak.
Anyway, I have a question to ask and its hard for me to ask cuz its a sick question, but, anyway, . . .
How big are clots normally supposed to be? I mean, mine are huge. They are very disgusting to look at. Like, I bet one of them would fill a 1/4 measuring cup.
Is this at all normal and have any of you ever encountered this problem?
Is this something I should alert my doctor about?
Thank you. :)

Date: 2002-08-23 12:05 am (UTC)I think some women's blood just doesn't thin like the rest of ours.
If you're truly concerned you should ask someone who's a little more educated than I, though.

Date: 2002-08-23 08:28 am (UTC)If this is the first time you have had clotting (meaning it is abnormal for you), i would call the doctor immediately. If this is something regular for you, but not this heavy, i would call the doctor and just ask to speak to the triage nurse. If this has been going on for a long time and you are just wondering if it is "normal" - i would mention it at your next appointment.
If this is something new AND you are bleeding very heavily (1 pad per hour) i would call the doctor immediately.
Odds are it is just your body's natural way of dealing with the uterine lining.... i wouldn't worry at all - just make a point of learning more (which is what you are doing here, too... huzzah!)
blessings...
