Hi just had a question for you guys. Im thinking about going on birth control to help with my period and just in case my boyfriend and i become sexual active i want to be prepared. But i was curious about the birth control thats a patch i think its called ortho evra. Does anyone use it? Does it help with cramps? Does it have the same side effects as other birth control? Anything that you can tell me about it will be very helpful. Thanks.

since its so new. most places dont stock it yet. i know a few pharmacies i tried to get it at said they didnt have it and would take a while to order it. so i'm not sure how many women have tried it yet. doctors dont really have samples of it either. LOL, my doctor had to look at an advertisement in a magazine cause he didnt know the name of it!!

I read somewhere that if you're over 150 lbs, it won't be as effective as other birth control methods. Something to keep in mind if it applies to you.

I'm not sure where I read it. But the doctor would know if that was true or not. So make sure to ask him/her.

The patch is most similar in how it works (and it's side effects) to a low dose pill (such as Alesse, Levlite, Aviane or Loestrin 1/20) or NuvaRing. It would have the same benefits of reduced cramping and similar (though perhaps slightly lower) side effect incidences.
