Hi I'm new, and I have a dilemma.

A friend asked me if you can get pregnant if you're not having intercourse. I didn't know what to tell her, but now I am worried for her. What is the answer?

You can get pregnant if sperm gets inside your vagina and does its little swimmy sperm thing. If you're not touching a dick at all, you probably won't get sperm on you anywhere. If you're doing blowjobs, and swallow or are careful to spit into a towel or someting that goes nowhere near your vagina, you're not going to get pregnant. If you're having anal sex, assuming one is very careful to keep it from drooling out into places it can get into your vagina, you're not going to get pregnant. If you give handjobs, and again, you keep the sperm away from your vagina afterwards (including wiping yourself with the same part of the same towel), you're not going to get pregnant. Anything else is a crapshoot; even condoms and birth control pills aren't utterly 100%.

On the flip side: If you give a handjob, and touch your vagina afterwards, thus getting sperm in nearly the right place, you *can* get pregnant. "Virgin" births happen, just not very frequently.

I'd also like to mention that you don't even have to touch your vagina -- touching your vulva will do it. :) But touching your vagina is more risky, as it deposits semen closer to the danger zone.

I give a lot of hand jobs -- with one of my boyfriends, manual sex is pretty much our most frequent activity for a variety of reasons, including that it feels good and we're both good at it -- and I keep a few hand towels by the bed all the time, just for that.

Apparently they were making out, fully clothed, and she doesn't know if he released any sperm or not.

From what you have told me, that doesnt seem like much of a problem. She shouldn't have to worry.
