uggh. my emotional instability during my period seems to be getting worse and worse with every passing month. i lash out at people, i cry ALL DAY, i push people away from me, i take things way too personally and get pissed off at every little thing...

it never used to be like this. it kinda scares me.

is there anything i can do to calm the monster?? i do yoga and take baths and practice relaxation techniques, but it doesn't seem to be helping much.i don't like being like this, and it's causing problems between my boyfriend and i... :\
*sigh*

Just a thought...

... talk to your doctor about "PMDD"? It's like a more serious form of PMS (read: having a serious negative impact on your ability to function), often specifically the emotional symptoms. Sometimes treatment is tried with the same class of drugs that are used for clinical depression (SSRIs etc), which help calm things down for some women; otherwise, it's useful just to pin down what the disorder *is* and look for specific treatments that might help.

In general, it helps to make sure you get enough water and sleep, and gradually cut back on caffeine if you are a heavy consumer of it; that can de-stress the body in general. Anyhow, good luck!

how old are you?
do you exercise? how's your diet?

it's really an individual case by case thing but reading your post, I relate so well that it's a little scary. with me, it was a mild case of depression that turned intense (life threatening to me and those around me) the week before my period. but I found that realizing it was depression and that was okay and then tuning my lifestyle cut down on the craziness.

I found the Pill helped tremendously with my PMS symptoms...I went on it not for PMS but for birth control and dysmenorrhea. When they started to get more severe, my gynecologist recommended adding more calcium to my diet, soy (which often upsets my stomach so I'm very careful about it) and herbs.
