The Keeper

My anxiously awaited Keeper arrived in the mail recently and I tried using it on the occasion of my last period. I cut the pull tab and its positioning was reasonably comfortable, but I found that the light suction in my vagina actually promoted some awful cramping. Has anyone else had this reaction? Or am I just super sensitive? I really would like to make this product work for me, for the many reasons a number of you have laid out in previous posts on the subject, especially environmental soundness, but I just can't stand cramps. Cramping leads to digestive troubles, pain, and general unhappiness, so unless I can avoid the problem, unfortunately I think my little Keeper is going to have to stay shelved in its pretty little carrying case for the moment.

You should make sure that the six holes are fully punched. take a pin and a good light and carefully poke thru the holes that are already there, making sure that you can do it easily. Try not to tear them open, just get rid of any scrap rubber inside of the wee holes. Hope this helps. Also, how sexually active are you? Sometimes, uh, stretching, helps a bit. The keeper might soften a bit more with use and your body will just get used to it more. Hang in there :-)

Actually, when I first used mine, it was on the first day of my cycle (a couple years ago) and the cramping was so bad, I thought 'what the hell ?!?!'

But I don't have that problem anymore-- I've found out how to insert it more easily, and on my first day if I'm really crampy, sometimes I just use a flannel pad (http://pacificcoast.net/~manymoons/moons.html).

[livejournal.com profile] macabre_grrl's idea is a good one-- that would definitely relieve some of the suction pressure.

Maybe it's hard to hear when you're cramping, but give it another try, later. It's worth it once is starts working for you!
