it depends on the type of birth control you're using and your own personal physiology. it could either immediately stop your period, or cause it to continue for months (which happened to me). it's best not to start taking the pills while you're still bleeding. it messes with the cycle.
My doctor told me to start the sunday of the week that I started, even if I did start on sunday Id still have to start taking my pills the same day. Now Im all confuzed
the starting on a sunday rule is kind of silly. i guess it's just so that you'll stop and start on the same day as the pill packs. *grin* it really doesn't matter. i would advise you to take the first active pill the day that your period stops and just go from there. it probably wouldn't hurt to follow your doctor's directions and if you'd rather do that, go right ahead. i'm just some random josiphine off the street. i'm just telling you what worked for me. you should see what works for you and do that.
I went on the DP shot on the day I started cramping which usually means I'll bleed later that week. I didn't bleed for 10days but now 2months later I'm still going through 1-2 tampons a day and I my normal cycle still kicked in besides!! The whole reason I took the shot in the first place was to suspend my cycle because I have Endometriosis. It was a last resort and now I'm stuck with surgery, Yuck!!!
I'm stuck having a hysterectomy. If I can have them save an ovary(big if)I won't need artificial hormones. Tomorrow's the big day. Thanks for the thought.
