if someone asked this before, sorry for the redundancy.
anyway...

is it safe to have sex when you're on the dummy pills of the BCP? i'm talking those two unbloody days before your body realizes that the hormones aren't there anymore. the pamplet never addressed this, but i've been told countless times that having sex during your period or right before your period is a dumb idea. this would technically be that time, right?

i guess to clarify, do you stop ovulating on the pill? i'm pretty sure you do, as it fools your body into thinking you're pregnant (right?). That said, can you ovulate in only two days enough to make it dangerous? maybe not but i am unsure.

i haven't tried this, it's purely theorhetical.

I think it is fine, as long as you are still taking your pills as you are supposed to. The way it got explained to me is that the BCP makes your body think that it is actually pregnant and thus doesn't ovulate. I have been on BCP for 10 yrs now, and I have never had a problem :)

But hey, it wouldn't hurt to ask a dr.

I've been on the pill for about five years, and I adore it. I have sex whenever I'm not bleeding, regardless of where I am in the cycle, and I guess it's okay, since I have no one to show for it. :)

Yes, ideally, the pill keeps you from ovulating. Obviously, as the pill has some degree of failure (even though it's not very good), it doesn't ALWAYS keep you from ovulating, but it also has other effects (like thickening cervical mucus so sperm have a harder time getting through, and it also prevents implantation) that should keep you from getting pregnant in the rare event that you ovulated.
