i get my period on thursdays or fridays after i start taking the sugar pills of my birth control on the previous sunday. its thursday and i don't have it yet. and for some reason all this month i've been thinking i'm pregnant, even though there is a very very very very small chance i could be. (the small chance being that there was a week period where i wasn't on birth control 'cause i didnt refil it on time.) my question is, if i don't get my period later today or tomorrow, is that reason to worry? is it possible to skip a period while being on the pill? what would be my chances of actually getting pregnant during that week i wasn't on the pill?

If you skipped a week taking your pills and didn't use a backup form of birth control, then YES there is a chance you could be pregnant. You have to start all over.. just like when you start taking your pills for the first time. The first month isn't effective..Backup is required.

i agree with what kanga said and also, somteimes i forget a pill here in there and it does screw up my cycle a bit.

Well if you get your period on thursday or friday and its only thursday, i wouldn't freak out yet. However, its entirely possible you could get pregnant if there was that week gap, though if you still used a condom its unlikely. And though you probably won't skip a period on the pill, there's no reason why your body can't be weird and just make your period late. SO...wait a few days to worry too much, and then go get a pregnancy test. Or, just get one now so you can know.

its just that damn pregnancy tests are so expensive. i've freaked out before and bought tests and they were all negative, for good reason too, 'cause i was on the pill and hadn't not taken it or anything, but it was a different pill and it didn't have enough of something in it so my periods kept coming later and later. but...i just feel pregnant. of course, i swore i felt pregnant before too and wasn't. *shrug* i'm sorta freaking out and sorta not. GRR!

My aunt had the same thing happen with her pills...and that is how my new baby cousin came to be. I would go out and try the pregnancy test--it may be a little pricy (I think at walmart they are only like $20 or so, though) but it would be so worth it for your piece of mind. When I was on the pill there was one time when I got my period a week late--my doctor said that *is* normal. (A big relief for me!) Take care.

thanks! as of now, 11.57am friday, i haven't gotten my period. i'm a little nervous. i'm feeling sort of crampy though. but i said that last night and nothing has happened. so....when my boyfriend gets home today and i haven't gotten my period, off to walmart we go.
