Hi, I'm new and I was wondering...

Do any of you happen to know more about the new bc patch that they've just recently come out with?

I have asevere periods- [pcos as I'm sure many of you can understand]. Horrid cramping, EXCESSIVE bleeding for long periods of time... etc.
My ob/gyn has tried me on several pills and I'm now on yasmin. I'm only a week into taking it.
My sister was reading an advertisement and thought perhaps the patch would be something to look into. Might deliver a more direct dosage of the proper hormones, less for me to remember, less hassle etc.

I intend to ask my ob/gyn about it on the second when we do my pill check.
In the mean time I was hoping that maybe some of you might be familiar with it and possibly give me some facts, opinions or experiences .

Thanks
VJ

I don't really know much about it now, but I'm going to start using it a week from tomorrow so I will be able to tell you more later.

I hate it!.

been on it for two months, it leaves bandaid type good. the edges peel off, you're constatly worrying about it.

it's a freakin' hassle :P

I am starting the pill next week because I was just ALWAYS worried about the patch falling off.

I was curious about this too--my stomach reacts to the pill (I am nauseus for hours afterwards), so I am hoping this might be a good alternative, though I too would worry about it falling off...hmm...

you could also try the nuva ring. Its once a month, and uses less hormones than the pill or patch because it only needs to release them into the area surrounding it, to an extent. Just keep it in mind as one of your options along with the patch as a non-pill combined b/c method that isn't once a day.

Nuvaring is a flexible plastic ring that goes in your vagina, near the cervix. It realeases birth coontrol pill-type hormones directly into the bloodstream (through the skin) for the three weeks a month you leave it in. Then, you remove it for one week a month and have your period, and put a new one in after a week (even if you're still bleeding). It's very highly effective as birth control, but I don't know if it's like the pill in that it helps with cramps, etc... I'm about to ask that question! (btw, they have a website: http://www.nuvaring.com I think, I could be wrong, you could look it up on google I'm sure!
