Oct. 3rd, 2002 12:54 amIt's been ages since I have posted here (or anywhere for that matter) but I have a question I hope you wonderful ladies can help me with.
Almost 2 months ago, I went back on the pill. My doctor (well, the birth control specialist at Kaiser) refused to give me an IUD as I wanted, and would only give me a prescription for the pill (she suggested diaphrams and the sponge, but spermicide gives me yeast infections). I didn't want to take the pill, because when I was on it a few years ago, I ended up in therapy for depression. But I wanted something that would allow me and my boyfriend to have a bit more spontenaity in our sex lives (we are monogamous, and have both been tested so all we need is pregnancy prevention).
Anyway, when I finished my last pack, I didn't start a new one. I was getting depressed again, and having modd swings that resulted in me crying everynight, and my moodiness was starting to cause problems not only with my boyfriend, but also at work. So I stopped taking the pill (at the end of the cycle).
I started the Tuesday as I should have... But it was really light. I mean REALLY light. A regular tampon was too much. I could have used the light days or whatever they are for the entire cycle, pretty much. And now it has been about 2 weeks since I stopped my period (as light as it was), but now I have a very (and I mean VERY) heavy discharge. I don't have any itching, but there is a bit of a smell to the discharge. There seems to be a little bit of spotting as well. It doesn't seem like a yeast infection... But I don't know what it could be, or if it is even something I should talk to the doctor about. Is this just my body re-adjusting to life without the pill? Or should I call my doctor?
Any ideas???

It seems like you know your body best about bcp not being good for it--if they made you depressed, and are doing so again, that's a valid health concern your doctor should not be ignoring. If you can work with another doctor who will listen to you on this, you might be able to make some progress towards what you need... and I'll stop here as that wasn't really what you asked *grin*

I know that the person I talked to, told me that Kaiser will not give me an IUD as long as I am under the age of 25, unless I have had a child, because the risk of puncturing my uterus is too great. (helloooo that risk is there no matter what... and it's one I'm willing to take! just give me the damned thing already!)
If Kaiser won't give me the IUD, when I go to visit my parents at Christmas time, I am going to try to get in to see the doctor I had back there, who SUGGESTED the IUD to me in the first place!

Date: 2002-10-03 08:44 am (UTC)My humble (heh) opinion would be to suggest you take a pregnancy test; in the event that you *are* pregnant, the earlier you start taking prenate vitamins and getting prenatal care, the better, and if you *arent* then there's a heck of a load off your mind! Good luck, btw! .
