IUD question...

okay, so i went in for my pap and annual exam today, and everything's fine. it's coming down to crunch time for my bc issue, though. i've been thinking about getting an IUD for a while now, but i'm still a little worried. everything ive heard about the new ones so far has been good, and most of it comes from people who have very little reason to lie to me. i was just wondering if anybody out there in lj land has had any experience with them, or knows anyone who has. any and all info is always appreciated...

I know someone who has one and said that it was good, but that the insertion procedure was uncomfortable. She also said that it made her menstrual cramps worse (a symptom I've read about from other sources as well). Other than that, she was pretty happy with it.

yeah, i've heard about the cramps, too, but i can't think of any other reason not to get one, and it's just about the only bc option i have left. i can't use anything with hormones, and i'm afraid i wouldn't be able to use a diaphragm or cervical cap correctly. (and both my SO and i hate using condoms)
