I've got a few questions I hope someone will be able to help me out with, or, at the least, let me know that I'm not alone. :-)

I've been regularly on the pill for the better part of 5 years. I've been off for two months and have been noticing some things about myself that have changed and I'm wondering whether or not it can be attributed to my body having become so used to the regular influx of estrogen I was getting while on the pill.

#1 - Ever since I had my first period off the pill I've been plain horny. My sex drive has been in overdrive on the NASCAR circuit. I have never been this sexually frustrated/energized before in my life.

#2 - While on the pill, I noticed that I got more emotional while I was PMSing. It was only for a day or two the week before. That never really happened before the pill. Now that I'm off I am also increasingly moody. I can't keep a steady emotional keel on *anything*. I'm unusually short with people (totally not characteristic of me *whatsoever*) and more emotional than usual.

Anyone else had similar reactions after going off the pill? I'd love to hear ...

if you think about it, the pill is a hormone pill (duh) and taking yourself off of it means that you're changing your hormones so you're bound to have increased mood swings and possible other ones (like your horniness)

sorry, no stories ^_~

Same here!

I was on the pill for 2 years, and I went off of it this summer. WOW. The difference was astonishing. While on the pill I was rarely horny, and while I was moody during that pms week, otherwise I was pretty neutral most of the time. Then I went off of it (orthotricycline) and it was nuts! I was like twenty times as horny as usual, and my ups where much higher, my lows lower. I'm still not sure if it is an overall good thing--it feels good to feel again, to be really happy or really bouncy...but it really sucks when I'm feeling low or cranky. I think it is just my body trying to figure out what the heck it is supposed to be doing now that it isn't getting the constant hormones. The craziness lessened as the months went by, I'm pretty good now, though I've noticed especially around the week before my period I do the high-low game again! I found watching my caffine and sugar intake around that time really helps. So that's my story :)
