i've been on birth control for almost 3 years. i'm thinking about stopping it. has anyone had any experience with quitting the pill? anything weird happen?
I got two periods the month after I quit, and my PMS was worse for that month and a couple months after...but other than that, I can't think of anything. I'm back on the pill now -- was only off for about six months.
see, the pill has made my pms worse... i was thinking it might help to stop taking it. but i dunno how i feel about that whole two-periods-in-one-month thing...
It's not a guaranteed thing, but your periods probably will be irregular for a month or two. That really freaked me out, 'cause I was regular-to-the-minute even before I was on the pill.
But if it's not working for you, you should definitely get off it or try to get a different version prescribed. Life's too short to suffer with nasty side effects from the pill, I think.
I was on the pill for years to reduce menstrual pain, flow, illness (I would get really sick every month)... I have been off now for more than a year. I feel much better. Before going off, I began making dietary changes. The first cycle was a rough, but it got steadily better after that. I have been paying close attention to my diet and menstrual symptoms. I have found that eating a lot of soy and avoiding dairy, for example, make a big difference. If you look, there is lots of information out there about diet and menstruation. It has made the difference for me and I recommend it.
Did you just say "you're great.."? Well, it's official, you are my new best friend! You'll be sorry now lol! Seriously though, I wish you the best with this. I hated being on the pill, but was terrified to go off. It is a tough decision when it makes so much difference in your day to day life. Good luck :)
hey, at least i don't have man-sex to worry about. if i did, there'd be no way that i'd go off the pill. since i only have girl-sex, i'm in the clear in that respect. well... i don't really have much of that either, lol. anyway, thanks again.
I'm married and have a four-year-old son. I forget what sex - any kind of sex - is! Sometimes I think that I remember for a moment, but it is fleeting and before I can remember, I forget again. :P
aww... that's too bad... i'm too young for kids so i don't have that problem yet, but i'm sure i will some day. i'm trying to get as much sex in before that happens.
