oh my god, the cramps and pains are horrible!

i just started today and it was so light and painless this morning...i took some drugs and they helped me get out of bed and function..but i stayed home from school because i knew itd get bad.

it's pretty heavy for the first 2-3 days...not like insane but enough to be an annoyance and a concern...changing pads every 2-3 hours and tampon every hour or so..and the cramps, well they're enough to send me to the floor in tears and even hurt when i don't move at all.

the only thing that works is high doses of medication and heating pads, and thats so temporary.

my periods used to be light to moderately heavy, with occasional cramps but nothing that effected daily life. now theyre constantly getting worse...do any of u think the worsening of it might relate to me being sexually active?

if i go to a doc do you think theres anything they can prescribe me to lessen the cramps?? atleast until its done with and i can go get everything checked out by a obgyn? ahh im going to cry my little eyes out if this doesnt stop..

It seems that most women who have horrible cramps the doctors put them on BC to help with the cramps you might want to think about this.

for the pill to be effective for the cramping, it generally doesnt matter if you miss one now and then, or at least not on the pill i was on. so you could try that, and keep using condoms for the contraception if you feel you're forgetting too much.

Well there are other options. But eventually you would get in the habit of taking your medication. I was horrible about taking medication but I have never missed a pill.

A friend of mine had almost the same symptoms, and was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst. You may want to hit the gyno... Not to worry you, just precaution.

considering you're sexually active, it would really benefit you to be seeing a gyno yearly anyway. i know it's pretty scary, especially if you've had friends who have had bad problems, but really the chance of that kind of thing happening isn't that high. when something happens to someone you know, it makes it seem much more likely than it actually is. and regular checkups mean things can be caught before they are a problem. and if you just go, get it over with, it wont be such a big deal later on...
that was my two cents...

Im not sure what will happen, actually.... I've never been either, I just know that she ends up crying on the floor during her period. All I can say is go and hope for the best. Either way, you need to go... they could give you some meds and make life happy :)

Therma Pads (i think they're called that) from your local drug store, or a heating pad.
Raspberry leaf tea.
Ginger tea with honey (chop a thumb sized piece of ginger and stick the bits in a tea ball)

and.....how do you do with acupressure? My friend says that she had these awful cramps and her friend im'ed her and said to pinch her achilles tendons just on the soft spot inside the thick ropy part. she thought it was crazy but she tried it...she pinched for a few minutes and tried to relax...fell asleep...woke 20 min later to GREAT RELIEF. It has worked several times since, once while she was babysitting and had to become functional as soon as possible.

hey, at this point, i bet you'll try anything.

You really should get checked by an obgyn asap. This could be a number of things and the doctor can give you something right away to help with it. The obgyn will be able to tell you whether you need to wait until your period is over or not, and if s/he thinks that you need to wait until it's over they can still give you something to hold you over.
