It is nice knowing your body...my period always comes on a wednesday...i know it, my body knows it. my boyfriend thought maybe i would get it a little earlier because my lovely aroma had changed a bit...and i say "no, i will get my period on Wednesday, late tuesday night" and i did!

This is my first cycle being able to use my sea sponges all the way through...i first got my sponges in high school, but i was always a little paranoid cleaning them at school. now i am out of high school and i got some new ones and i just want to say that i love the way they keep my vulva so clean...maxi pads always get so messy, and most cylces my vulva aches, but not this cycle...so yeah, sea sponges are definitely nifty!

Sea Sponges, eh? Would you be so kind as to send me a link that would tell me all about it? Or would you be so kind as to tell me how you go about using them and their care and maintainence?

Wow, that sounds neat! Definately would be a money saver, from constantly buying and throwing away pads and such. My only thing is I don't usually wear tampons because they tend to be uncomfortable for me, but I'm not really thrilled with pads either, cause they are messy and smelly and you're always tied to the bathroom so you can change them... Are these more comfortable? They seem a bit expensive, but if you reuse them a lot I guess its worth it. About how many times can you re-use them? And you just rinse them out under the flaucet or something quick and then put them back in? I know I generally get pretty icky periods too...

Well, I looked around the site some more- I see they're good for 6 mo to a year which is great! Only drawbacks I can come up with:
1. You'd have to be willing to get messy. You gotta stick your fingers up in there to pull them out, and you'll have to wash em off. If its inconvienent to wash it you gotta somehow package it so you can take it with you home (cause I would think it'd be kinda gross to walk into a public restroom and see someone washing one of those.) I guess you'd have to zip in the handicapped stall since it has a private sink...
2. You'll have to custom shape each sponge, since they only come in one size. Since they're natural I assume size will always vary some, and of course each woman is a different size too.

Otherwise they seem like a great alternative.

Thanks for the info! I think I will look into them and try them out then ^_^. Will take a bit of getting used to, but everything does...
Yeah, that is horrible when people don't dispose of their pads properly. I'm always very contientious about it. I guess I'd still be embarassed to have to wash one in public, but maybe I'd get used to it, and I can probably be able to do it at home most of the time anyway.
I don't really know what size I'd be... maybe that's part of the reason I had trouble with tampons. I know the first ones I used were probably too big, but even the small ones felt weird. So I would think a sponge would feel so much better than a bullet-shaped cotton thingie, I assume it has more give and flexability. How do you know how to make it shaped more comfortably? Do you just kind of try to work it and feel where its not quite right? Or maybe I'm just too concious of something inside me, even when it isn't actually really hurting I feel weird. I would probably also be kinda afraid of getting them out the first couple times, but I guess I'd get the knack. Is there any risks associated with how long you leave them in?
That's cool it holds more! Nothing sucks more than getting blood on your underwear, I now have my "period underwear" that consists of everything wearing out or the ones I just don't like as well just in case of spotting ^_^;
