I skip my period occasionally by starting a new pack instead of taking a week off. I sometimes have some random spotting and some random PMS-y symptoms, but nothing major. I don't know if it matters, but I've been on BCP for nine years and right now I'm on Loestrin FE.

I have done that occasionally, and usually I get some spotting about halfway through the new pack of pills... I don't know. From what I have heard, it is safe to do.

It's okay to do it once or twice at a time, but there haven't been any studies on whether it's safe for long stretches. The insert in my pack of Microgynon advises women to see their doctor if they don't get their period at the end of the second pack.

i had a friend who did that while on orthotricyclen. about a week or two into the new pack, she started bleeding and didn't stop for about two weeks. it was very scary.

It really depends on the pills. I would not skip sugar pills if I were on tri-phasal, such as tricyclen or the other three colored packs. moving directly from a higher dose (end of the pack) to a much lower dose (beginning of the pack) isn't great for you and is probably why people get weird bleeding by doing this.
