My last period started on Halloween, lasted a typical 8 days as mine often do. Now, my periods often come close together, sometimes as little as 3 weeks apart, and on the rare occasions when it's late it's never by more than 2 to 3 days.

it's now 8 days late. usually when it's on its was my left ovary cramps up like all holy hell (polycystic ovaries, fun) and i get that ache in my back and abdomen. but i'm not having any cramps even. it's like my body's forgotten to bleed this month, and it's worrying me because it's never been this late before.

there is absolutely no chance whatsoever that i could be pregnant, so that explanation's out. it could be stress, but i'm no more stressed than i usually am, really -- i'm always stressed so i doubt this time would be so different. i read in the memories about parsely tea, but does anyone know any other ways to induce menstruation? or is it healthier to just wait and not mess with it?

i tried all over to find menstrual inducing home remedies... no luck besides the parsley tea. i didnt want to take an abortive since there was no way i was pregnant. you can try an abortive found here (http://www.sisterzeus.com) the parsley tea thing worked for me in like 4-5 days and i was inducing a period before it was due, not a late one. wasnt so bad. just tasted a little ick.
hope that helps

no im not saying that... im saying all the other remedies ive found that can induce mensus can also be used as an abortive. parsley tea should work on a late period. what i did was used one teaspoon parsley (in a tea strainer) with one cup water (which i boiled and set aside for a few seconds) and steeped it for 15 minutes covered. i took it 2-3 times a day but never at night (dunno why, thats what the directions said) and sure enough i got mine early and at the most inopportune time (at my boyfriends house right as we were getting into bed)
anyway try it... shouldnt harm you if it doesnt work.

i dont have a tea strainer either... what i did was put the leaves in the middle of a coffee thingie... you know the ones that you use in a coffee maker... i folded the sides over and then the open ends in and it worked alright. just be careful when you take it out of the cup. some tend to fall out if the thingie comes unfolded. you could try taping it too.

Parsley tea didn't work for me. I am taking Provera now for 10 days to bring on my period, hopefully that will work. Is it possible you just ovulated late? If you were late in ovulating it could take two weeks after you ovulate for your period to show up.

How long ago did you ovulate?

You might need to see a doctor. It sounds like a hormonal thing..

I hate doctors too.. but hopefully this is something that can be corrected really easily without anything invasive going on. My last period was Oct 27th, and I just called my doctor and they said they would call in a prescription for Provera for me.. I didn't even have to go into the office. I take it for 10 days and supposedly within a week after that my period will come. I've done it once before and it worked. I'm on day 4 this time, so we'll see.

You don't have to see an ob/gyn. If you're comfortable seeing your regular doctor about this, you can have your annual exam and pap smear done there.. and they can help with your menstrual cycle too.

Now I don't want to sound too much like a nag... I'm sorry your ob/gyn's have not been good to you in the past... but please please please try to get your yearly exam! I had several bad pap smears this year and had to have two colposcopies and a LEEP done.. those procedures are by far much more painful than just one pap smear. I'd hate to think that anybody would end up needing all of that done just becase their doctor sucks.

I hope you can find a doctor who works well with you. When you find him/her, stick with them forever. A good doctor is like an honest mechanic. VERY hard to find!!!

And don't forget you have the right to not let the doctor even touch you if you think they're going to hurt you. Ask to see the instrument first if you have to and refuse to lay back until you know what the doctor is going to use on you and it's acceptable to you. Be firm, after all you are their paycheck on legs! Their boss! The doctor works for you! :)

I know the feeling because I have to have the small-size instrument too! Yowch.
